Historic Trafalgar Square
Trafalgar Square is perhaps London's most-iconic landmark and it's one that almost everyone has heard of, whether it's through TV shows, Monopoly games or tales of friends' visits to England. Its most-famous resident, Nelson's Column, is often said to be the centre of London. This statue of Admiral Nelson set atop a 45-metre-high plinth and surrounded by four grand lion statues is also a great starting place to explore the city’s other monuments – Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament are just a stroll away.
Since 1999, Trafalgar Square has also been home to one of the most creative contemporary art spaces in the world, with exhibits changing on a regular basis. If you visit during a major holiday, such as Christmas, Chinese New Year or St Patrick's Day, you can see the square completely transformed from its regular appearance.
Catch a show at the Adelphi
The Adelphi Theatre is one of West End's premier entertainment venues and has enjoyed a number of different functions since it first opened in 1806. Its current role as a theatre has been in play since 1930. While the building retains much of its original old-world charm, it has undergone a series of refurbishments and upgrades over the decades.
The theatre is co-owned by one of the United Kingdom's best-known names in theatre, Andrew Lloyd Webber, who uses his reputation and influence in the theatre and music industries to bring top performances to the Adelphi.
