Have a drink at Deansgate Locks

A little over one kilometre away from the hotel is an area known as Deansgate Locks or simply 'The Locks'. This is one of the trendiest locations on the Manchester pub scene, with a number of popular bars set on the water's edge. The biggest drawcard of this precinct is the series of historic arches originally built for the railway, but now house hip bars and entertainment venues.

There are a host of other drinking establishments nearby and plenty of places to grab something to eat. Although it has a lively night time vibe, this area is also a great place to spend a sunny afternoon watching the world go by.

Discover Manchester Opera House

Although not as iconic as its Sydney counterpart, the Manchester Opera House is a building full of charm and history that hosts some of the top touring performances in the United Kingdom. This grand venue has been entertaining patrons with musicals, comedies and theatre performances since 1912, and seats more than 1,900 people. Many of the shows heading for London's West End come to the Manchester Opera House first, meaning visitors to the northern city get a sneak peak at the next big thing.

Around the Opera House are plenty of places to eat, many of which offer a dedicated pre-theatre menu to ensure you get to your show on time. The venue itself houses several quaint bars where you can enjoy a glass of wine while you wait for the performance to start.
