Have a kip in the heart of town

After a few hours on the highway, there's nothing better than stretching out on a comfortable bed. What's even better is being able to zip straight from your hotel to a restaurant, supermarket or shopping strip. Staying on or around the Bussell Highway that runs through the Margaret River townships awards you such luxury.

Margaret River accommodation around Tunbridge Street, Fearn Avenue or Town View Terrace will have you within walking distance of everything you need. The 4-star Margaret River Guest House and 4.5-star Darby Park offer a taste of the tranquil region, with spacious rooms and easy pick-up locations for guided wine tours.

Cosy cottages and guest houses galore

When staying in wine country, a bed and breakfast can complete the picture and make the experience all the more memorable – not to mention romantic. Margaret River is dotted with cottages, retreats and hideaways with that classic country charm, plus the added bonus of 4-star comfort.

Ease into eco-chic enjoyment in a spa suite at the Heritage Trail Lodge, step back to yesteryear at Rosewood Guest House, dive into the deluxe treatment at Acacia Chalets or choose from a number of delightfully decorated retreats found across the region. Before settling into your room, spend the day exploring the wineries and Cape to Cape walking track that Margaret River is known for.

Bunk by the beach in Prevelly

If you'd rather spend your time in the surf than sipping sauvignon, consider booking your stay in the coastal pockets of Prevelly or Gnarabup. At the mouth of the Margaret River, Prevelly is just a 10-minute drive from the Margaret River township and a great location for keen surfies, boasting some of the best breaks on the western seaboard.

As you can't arrive in Margaret River via air, road-tripping from Perth is the most practical way of visiting the region. The drive takes an easy three hours, but can be stretched out if you decide to stop at beachside towns like Bunbury or Mandurah down the coast before settling into your beachside villa off Mitchell Drive in Prevelly.
