Taking a walk around Wall Street

The hotel's prime location right on Wall Street makes it hard to ignore its connection to New York’s esteemed financial district. You can get to know the area a little better on a Wall Street walking tour.

A local guide takes you through Lower Manhattan, exploring famous financial landmarks including the New York Stock Exchange, the Federal Reserve and Wall Street. On the tour you can discover how this 18th-Century street bazaar became the world’s biggest financial centre. You can also visit the nearby Ground Zero Memorial and the Freedom Tower.

The roots of Battery Park

Wall Street is the epicentre of Manhattan’s early history, where the first president of the United States was inaugurated and where Dutch immigrants established the first European settlement. It is also home to the first fort, built in Battery Park to protect what was then called New Amsterdam.

This circular sandstone fort, known these days as Castle Clinton, has been welcoming people to Manhattan since the early 1600s. A visit to this part of the city reveals the district’s role in America’s initial mass immigration. It was here that around eight million immigrants to the USA were processed. Now Battery Park displays memorials for those involved in shaping the city.
