Cham culture at Khanh Hoa Museum
The Khanh Hoa Museum, located close to the hotel, is one of Nha Trang's hidden gems, featuring informative exhibits on the Cham people and other ethnic groups who have inhabited the region during its existence. Many of the artefacts on display were recovered from wrecked vessels and date back to the 15th Century including ceramic wares and decorative pottery used for trade. However, the Museum's crowning glory is its ancient Cham statues.
If you have an interest in modern Vietnamese history, you might appreciate the Uncle Ho room, which is home to several of Ho Chi Minh's personal belongings including the microphone used to deliver his historic independence speech in 1945.
The famed White Buddha
Nha Trang is home to Vietnam's largest temple, Long Son Pagoda, where visitors can marvel at the 24-metre-tall white statue of Buddha seated on a lotus blossom. The temple was originally established in 1886 on top of Mount Trai Thuy, but following a devastating storm it was rebuilt at the bottom of the mountain.
The Buddha statue is located behind the temple and surrounded by more intricate statues, which offer irresistible photo opportunities. You can't miss the giant Buddha when approaching the city by road or train, and the temple is also easy to find on Thai Nguyen Street.
