Tombs and a mosque
The Arabahmet mosque, located in Nicosia’s Old City, is a 16th-Century mosque that has been restored twice in recent years. The building displays a fantastic example of Cypriot design, possessing soft colours and domed roofs.
Feel free to wander around outside of the mosque. There’s a well-kept garden with cypress trees and a fountain. Having been built on the grounds of an old Latin church, the mosque now houses the graves and tombs of powerful people from Cyprus’ past. Some of the tombs you can see include two previous Turkish governors of Cyprus.
Nearby shops, restaurants and park
The hotel is situated slightly further out from the city centre than most others, but you don’t need to travel into the city to find fun, entertainment and culture. The streets close to the hotel are full of shops, restaurants and bars that are worth visiting for a browse or to refuel.
There’s also a park within walking distance from the hotel called ‘Metochi Kykkou’. It’s beautifully landscaped to include some spectacular features like a large water fountain and hidden bungalows. It’s a great spot to get close to Cyprus’ nature and spend time away from the busy city.
