Colonial charm through Old Town

A recent renovation has given Quito's Old Town a much needed facelift. This World Heritage-listed quarter of the city is now a restored pocket of Colonial inspiration that can be explored on foot. Along with a number of restaurants and shops, Old Town features such highlights as Independence Square, Jeesuit Church La Campania and La Ronda.

Bunk up in Old Town to ease your exploration of its narrow streets. A variety of hotels ensures options for all pocket sizes. Discover the colonial elegance of the upmarket Casa Gangotena. This 4-star hotel is within walking distance to a string of museums as well as Independence Square. La Casona de la Ronda Hotel is another colonial offering with charming style and reasonable rates.

New Town's modern edge

Wander 20 minutes outside of Old Town for a completely different experience. Quinto transforms into New Town – a sprawling expanse of high rise hotels and offices. At the heart of it all is the Mariscal Sucre where restaurants, bars and hotels converge for an all-in-one tourist destination.

Modern style abounds through New Town with hotel giants such as the Marriott providing expected star-rated service. The Lugano Suites and Le Parc Hotel feature mid-range pricing and quality amenities, while the Hostal La Casona de Mario is a homey hostel minutes from Mariscal Sucre.

Quito's natural beauty

Positioned in the shadow of the Andes Mountains, Quito serves up a surprisingly stunning setting. Those that love nature will relish the opportunity to venture to the outskirts of this capital city to ascend the heights of surrounding hills and mountains. You may want to check out the Teleferico cable car, which transports travellers to the top of Cruz Loma for amazing views over the city.

Accommodation that allows you to make the most of Quito's stunning natural beauty is available with hotels such as the 5-star Hacienda Rumiloma. This unique Andean resort is perched high up in the mountains, offering an extravagant escape overlooking the city. For lower rates, La Casa Amarilla and Hostal Casapaxi provide clean, comfortable rooms close to Teleferico.
