Lose yourself in the Old Town

Perched on the banks of the Sacramento River, your hotel provides easy access to the Old Sacramento historic district. Take some time to wander along the classic wooden sidewalks while soaking up the Spanish-inspired architecture reminiscent of Puerto Rico, Cuba, Mexico and Spain. Almost all of the buildings in this area date back to the19th Century. These days they are home to restaurants, cafes and boutique shops.

History buffs will enjoy visiting the many museums. Family-friendly activities include horse-drawn carriages and historic train and riverboat rides. Local tours include the spine-tingling Ghost Tour and an intriguing Underground Tour, where you descend into the underbelly of Sacramento that is more than a century old.

Don’t miss the iconic Tower Bridge

Step out of your hotel and take in Sacramento’s most recognised landmark: Tower Bridge. This unique vertical lift bridge dates back to 1935 and features two 160-foot towers that raise the middle section to allow boats to pass through.

Take a wander across the bridge on the pedestrian path to get a good look at this heritage-listed feat of engineering or grab a seat at one of the nearby bars and watch as the gold-painted bridge glints and glows during sunset. Keep your ears open and when the siren blows, join the locals in turning to watch the bridge perform its famous manoeuvre.
