A must-see church

When people travel they tend to be inexplicably drawn to churches, whether it’s because of the architecture, the sense of calm or something more spiritual. One such church exists in the beautiful city of San Salvador, called Iglesia El Rosario. From the outside El Rosario is quite modest; however, if you look a little closer you can see that the roof of the church is bedecked in a series of carefully designed stained-glass windows.

When the sun hits the panels, shafts of light of every colour of the rainbow light up the entire building, making this place of worship an engaging work of art. Feel free to join one of the services or simply pop your head in for a curious peek.

Music and dance at Teatro Presidente

San Salvador has a number of theatres, one of which is conveniently close to the hotel. Built in 1971, the beautiful Teatro Presidente was created to provide a meeting place for government, legislative assemblies, military officials and presidential affairs.

These days it’s used purely for pleasure, with dance recitals and symphonies playing regularly to a crowd of more than 1,400 people. Tickets are very reasonably priced, which means the arts in San Salvador are affordable for all.
