Ride down a sand dune

For an action-packed morning adventure, join a tour to the magnificent sand dunes located just 10 kilometres outside of Swakopmund. Similar to snowboarding or tobogganing, try your hand at flying down these smooth slopes at high speeds.

Head straight to the top and ride down in standing position, with a speed check on the way down; or tackle the smaller dunes first and ride laying flat, working your way up to the higher peaks. For those with excess energy, tandem sand boarding is the perfect activity to gauge how good your balance really is.

Visit the historic heart of town

Make the short drive from your hotel into Swakopmund and discover the rich history and culture the city has to offer. In the heart of town you’ll find Kaiserliches Bezirksgericht, built in 1902 as the magistrate’s court, and today, the official Swakopmund presidential residence.

Just one block away is the city’s distinctive lighthouse. Here you’ll find one of the best and freshest seafood restaurants in the Swakopmund area, with a menu changing depending on the day’s catch. Between the presidential residence and the old lighthouse sits a handicrafts market where locals come to sell handmade Namibian arts and crafts.
