See African game up close

A visit to Namibia would not be complete without a trip to one of this region’s famous game ranches. A highly recommended day trip from Windhoek, the Okapuka Ranch offers a truly memorable experience. With half and full day trips available, you can choose to spend your time focusing on the big game animals or enjoying a variety of activities.

Enjoy a two-hour horse ride, relax by the pool in the heart of the African wilderness, or join a game drive. You’ll see giraffes, white rhinoceros, wilderbeest, springbok, warthogs, sable antelope, crocodiles and more. The perfect end to a wonderful day is the reserve's lion feeding session.

Visit the oldest building in Windhoek

In the heart of Windhoek you’ll find the Alte Feste Museum. Translated literally as ‘old fort’, the building was constructed in 1890 and was originally used as the city’s fort for German colonial troops.

Today the building houses the National Museum’s historical display centre. It is home to a fascinating range of permanent exhibitions from the colonial and post-colonial eras of the city. There is also an impressive collection of military weapons and objects here, and a display outlining the very first democratic election in Namibia. An excellent day out for history buffs and curious travellers alike.
