The 19th Street nightspots

If you want to party where the locals party and drink what the locals drink, head to 19th Street and order a tall glass of the crowd favourite: Myanmar Beer. This bustling strip is located south of the city centre, just a short drive from the hotel. A few blocks from the magnificent Sule Pagoda, 19th Street is lined with excellent bars and nightclubs.

The place is popular with both locals and tourists, so it’s the perfect area to mingle and soak up an atmosphere of friendly fun. With a bar to suit most moods, you’re sure to have a memorable night out.

Yangon’s famed reclining Buddha

A short drive from the hotel is the Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda, which is famous for its magnificent 65-metre-long Buddha statue. Rising almost 16 metres high, the Buddha was completed in 1907 and restored in 1966 after a period of disrepair.

Decorated in vibrant colours, the Buddha has blue eyes, red lips and red fingernails. The statue’s feet are decorated in gold and red, and feature images depicting the 108 characteristics of Buddha. Just across the street is the grand Nga Htat Gyi Pagoda, which is home to a similarly large Buddha statue in a seated position.
