Totally Travel specialises in overseas volunteering experiences across Asia, Africa and Latin America. Our trips are both experiential and meaningful ways of seeing the world – whether you’re keen to spend time at a sanctuary for Orangutan, African Wildlife, Pandas or Elephants or to help teach English to primary school kids in Cape Town, Cusco, Cambodia or Kathmandu - our programs offer the opportunity to connect with local projects around the world in a safe and supported way, and to have a very special travel experience while doing so. Volunteering is a more meaningful way to travel.
Trips are suited to anyone and everyone, from the younger student or gap year traveller, professional people seeking a more meaningful way to spend their annual leave or retirees. Programs operate all year-round and are designed for individuals as well as couples or friends. Durations range from 1 week to many months, your choice !
Totally Travel packages include airport pick up on arrival, comfortable accommodation, local transport and meals – often sightseeing tours and activities too. There are almost always other volunteers in-country, from lots of different countries, so the social side is great too.
Why travel with Totally Travel
Safe and secure for solo, female travellers
Unique range of meaningful experiences – all hand-picked and ethically sound
Volunteering made easy with everything taken care of – airport pickup, accommodation, meals, local support and guidance
Experienced local support teams
Australian owned and operated
For 20 years the team behind Totally Travel have been organising travel experiences for people just like you. Whether you are a first-time traveller or a more seasoned adventurer, you’re in good hands with this Australian organisation that puts the emphasis on high quality, personal service and travel advice.
Our style of travel is a more meaningful one. Rather than just passing through, Totally Travel volunteers live and work with local people across Asia, Africa and Latin America. You’ll stay in a family homestay or on-site in an animal sanctuary, eat with Buddhist monks or conservationists, work with wildlife researchers or village schoolteachers and as you spend your vacation with people of different nationalities, religions and cultures you’ll contribute to making the world a better place.
Volunteering made easy
All our programs are based around established community or conservation projects, tried and tested to make sure volunteers make a genuine difference to their efforts. We make it easy for you to join the project of your choice by providing all the infrastructure you need – simply choose your trip and book your flights and let Totally Travel take care of the rest. Airport pickup – check. Accommodation – check. Orientation briefing and project support – check. Meals – check.
In many cases a Totally Travel package also includes sightseeing and cultural activities – from cooking classes to national park safaris, beach excursions or a picnic lunch at a waterfall.
South Africa and Namibia are paradise for the animal lover and genuine sanctuaries provide here a vital rescue and rehabilitation service for injured, mistreated or displaced animals.
All across the globe, people are eager to learn English but in many underprivileged communities there are no funds for paid teachers – you can help by volunteering in a school in Peru, Bali, Cambodia, Tanzania, Vietnam, Thailand, Fiji, Borneo, Kenya, Brazil ….
Got a soft spot for elephants? Well choose from 9 different programs, either researching these gentle giants in the wild or helping in sanctuary in Thailand or Sri Lanka.
With over 40 different community and conservation programs to choose from across 19 different countries, and packages from just $795, there’s something for all tastes and budgets.

Totally Travel Reviews
Very sad to be leaving the wonderful friends I’ve made. This week has been great. Since I study and work in the industry I got to spend my time in the clinic helping with medications, bandage changes, anaesthetics and surgeries. There were a lot of experienced vets also volunteering at the same time, so I felt as though I got a lot of benefit from the experience.
I had the best time. It was a really amazing experience, extremely rewarding. Definitely didn’t want to leave the kids. It puts life into perspective when you see how much they enjoy life despite how little they have. I’m very glad I did it. The accommodation was very good and the host family were very welcoming. The coordinator Priscilla was extremely helpful and an all round lovely person! Thank you so much for all your help leading up to the trip.

My time at the elephant sanctuary will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you Totally Travel for the wonderful experience and helping me create such memories. I couldn’t be happier with my experience with Totally Travel and with the elephant sanctuary. The people at the sanctuary were just so generous, kind and considerate. I made some great friends and the accommodation was great - who else gets to wake up to elephants walking past their windows!?

This was such an incredible experience and opportunity to help the wildlife of Namibia! I am so happy I have this trip to look back on forever. I was terrified to travel alone as a young female and for the first time. But Totally Travel completely assured me I’d be completely fine (which I was) and answered every question I had no matter how trivial or complex. I’m so happy I went through you guys! This was the best thing I’ve done in my life.
The sanctuary was just as I had hoped it would be, animals everywhere!! The staff were so passionate about each and every animal and so happy to answer all questions and educate people. They really love their job and every day is special to them and the volunteers as something different and exciting happens all the time. I mean, one of your duties is to take cheetahs for a walk!??
If you want to hang out with wildlife and truly help them with the conversation efforts they put into the country, then book your Namibian Wildlife sanctuary now!! I promise you won’t regret it and you’ll be as emotional as I was when it was time to leave.
