If you've ever wondered what the differences are between the airline cabin classes - then read on. While airlines offer a great service and special facilities to their First Class and Business Class passengers, in recent years there has been a concerted focus on Premium Economy and Economy - to ensure that passengers who choose to fly in these cabins also enjoy their flight.

First Class

 The Emirates First Class Suite

Flying First Class is a luxurious way to travel long haul between continents. The cabins are spacious - with some airlines offering private suites - and generally boast comfortable seats that convert into perfectly flat beds. Meals can be served when you feel hungry and some airlines even offer the opportunity to order your preferred dinner in advance. There might also be extra luggage allowance, luxury amenities and larger screens. Access to the airline lounge before departure and priority boarding is also offered. Read more about the First Class service offered by top airlines.

Business Class

 The Finnair Business Class Cabin

Business Class cabins are no longer the domain of corporate travellers, with many holiday-makers choosing the additional benefits of Business Class. Rather than a secluded suite, in Business Class the seats are often a cocooned space that offers privacy and convert into a fully or near flat bed. As with First Class, passengers may be able to order their meal in advance and there's usually a power supply for a laptop and a USB port. Access to the airline lounge before departure and priority boarding is also offered. Read more about the Business Class service offered by top airlines.

Premium Economy

 The Qantas Premium Economy Cabin

Premium Economy bridges the gap between Economy and Business Class - it's a step up from Economy. A Premium Economy cabin generally includes wider seats with a greater incline and more leg room. There might also be a dedicated check in counter, priority boarding and extra baggage allowance. This is a great way to make the international journey that little bit more comfortable, so you arrive refreshed at your destination. Read more about the Premium Economy service offered by top airlines.

Economy

The Air New Zealand Economy Skycouch

Airlines today have put a renewed focus on their Economy Class cabins to make sure that passengers who fly Economy receive a comfortable and enjoyable long haul flight. For international flights, many carriers now offer delicious meals, personal entertainment screens and an increased seat pitch figure for that extra bit of legroom. There might also be individual USB and iPod connectivity. Read more about the Economy service offered by top airlines.
