Cathay Pacific may already have four lounge experiences at Hong Kong International Airport, but The Deck, opening to passengers on March 22, promises a new, different lounge experience.

The Deck, located in Terminal 1, is designed to emulate a contemporary living room and offer travellers a new level of understated luxury.

Hong Kong is a huge destination and stop over port for Australian business travellers, so having access to a space designed with the well-being of guests in mind is a welcome addition.

Cathay Pacific Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Paul loo said: “Investing in experiences that our customers value and consider important is at the heart of our product and service philosophy, and helps us differentiate ourselves from any other airline.”

So what sets The Deck apart from other airport lounges?

Firstly, dining experience is at the heart of the lounge concept. The main lounge will have a range of self-service, fresh made international offerings, plus an authentic Hong Kong dining experience, The Noodle Bar. Serving a selection of local classics, including wonton noodles, fish ball noodles and a variety of dim sum and buns, there will also be a range of other Asian delights available to order.

Secondly The Deck is distinct from other Cathay Pacific lounges for the fact that it sits on a balcony on the eastern side of the terminal building. The Terrace, an open-ceiling, L-shaped verandah provides guests panoramic views of the airport apron, taxi-ways and northern runway.

Finally, its sheer size sets this lounge apart. Spread across 823 square metres, The Deck has seating for 180 passengers and is fitted with designer furniture carefully selected by designers for its practicality, comfort and privacy. Natural materials, plants and artworks by local Hong Kong artists have also been used to create a welcoming atmosphere.

The lounge has distinct areas for different uses, so guests can use it for work and relaxation. A relaxation room features bespoke Solo chairs, eight shower suites, washroom facilities and a range of comfortable seating for the ultimate wind down before boarding your flight.

The Deck will join Cathay Pacific’s other lounges at Hong Kong International Airport, including The Bridge, The Pier Business and First Class lounges, The Wing Business and First Class lounges and The Arrival.
