Basketball fans planning a flight this year will be pleasantly surprised – entertainment leaders WME/IMG have signed a contract with the NBA to offer pro basketball to airline travellers, reports Deadline.

IMG's Sport 24 will bring more than 100 regular season and playoff games live in-flight to more than 250 planes on 10 airlines. Emirates, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways and Turkish Airlines are just a few of the airlines who signed onto the deal.

Airline travellers will also be privy to original NBA programming and highlight shows.

Sport 24 will show live coverage from additional sporting events such as Barclays Premier League, the Bundesliga, Formula 1, tennis' Grand Slams and the Rugby World Cup.
