Words by AFP Relaxnews

A prototype of the London Taxi Company's next-generation Black Cab, the TX5, has been unveiled and is able to run on a battery-powered electric system.

Other features of the TX5 include a lightweight aluminium body structure with composite panelling, Wi-Fi capability and charging points for passengers.

Styling remains consistent with the classic Black Cab design, with a panoramic glass roof one notable update.

The TX5 will be launched in the UK in late 2017, before going international the following year.
