The newest addition to the incredible Art Series Hotels, The Larwill Studio does things a little bit different. While this is another boutique-style hotel that offers guests a uniquely beautiful  stay in Melbourne, with all the quality calling cards of the Art Series group, The Larwill is a little bit rough around the edges in all the right ways.

Rather than create another finely polished gallery-cum-hotel, the Art Series designers were inspired by the less formal feel of an art studio. Rooms are deemed  'Workspaces' and large, communal spaces encourage collaboration. Of course, the works of famed Australian artist David Larwill play a significant part in the overall feel, but the ambience is a little bit casual with the man's work enhancing a truly great hotel.

The Rooms

The rooms at The Larwill Studio are everything a good hotel room should be: clean, spacious and comfortable with a large bathroom and quality amenities. There is an in-room coffee pod machine and T2 teas for your convenience, and WiFi is complimentary. But, it's the fresh style and unique additions that make this hotel really stand out. Look past the surface to discover homey touches and fun inclusions that have the potential to both delight and entertain.

Cushy beds are adorned with signature bedding as well as an invitation to engage in a cheeky bed jumping session. Drinks and snacks sit alongside art sets complete with canvas in the mini bar. And all those little extras are displayed across a central pegboard like the tools of an artist, inviting you to touch, try, peruse and read. Each room even comes with a yoga mat and an iPad pre-loaded with yoga routines to try out.

The Extras

There are a number of perks that come with staying at the Art Series hotels, and The Larwill Studio is no exception. Within the hotel, guests are invited to stay energised with access to the on-site Sweat Gym. The hotel also features the Min30Min program, which offers 30-minute sessions designed to keep you fit on the road.  For a decidedly more chilled out activity, meditation guides are available upon request, or  take a free tour of all David Larwill's artwork within the hotel provided by the in-house Art Advocate.

If you're venturing beyond the hotel to discover everything that Melbourne has to offer, the hotel is equipped with Lekker bicycle and Smart Car hire systems. Depending on just how far you'd like to travel, you can make sure you do it in style.

The Location

If you needed any other reason to check out this hotel, the location would be it. It encompasses part of the new Commercial precinct at the Royal Children's Hospital on Flemington Road. In North Melbourne within minutes of the buzz of the CBD, it's ideal for business travellers seeking easy access to the city centre.

Transport is close by, or take advantage of the on-site parking. And, if you happen to have a free moment or two to do some sightseeing, the Melbourne Zoo, Queen Victoria Markets and Victoria Street Eats are all close at hand.
