'UberCommute' is Uber's latest launch, allowing users in China to share the cost of their drive to work.
On Wednesday September 23, transportation company Uber announced its latest initiative, UberCommute.
Drivers sign in, enter their destination, and are matched with riders seeking to travel the same journey.
For passengers, the experience and format remain the same. Those with a vehicle wishing to carpool, however, must sign up to the Uber platform.
UberCommute is currently only available in Chengdu, China, although Uber is clear about its global intentions: "Over time we hope to adapt uberCOMMUTE for other cities around the world so that more people can carpool, helping reduce costs for everyone while also cutting congestion."
