You'll rarely find a traveller who doesn't feel inspired to film a moment or two while abroad. For those of us sitting at home these videos often invoke our own travel dreaming (with a smidge of envy on the side).

We've gone out and found 12 inspirational travel vines; six-second windows into exotic parts of the world you might be planning to visit or have never even heard of.

1. Bora Bora bungalows

Ashley Verbanac shares the stunning view that comes with staying in an overwater bungalow in Bora Bora, an island in French Polynesia.

2. Carnival in Venice, Italy

Ms Adventure finds herself amongst the vibrant costumes of Carnival in Venice, which is usually held across multiple weeks at the beginning of February each year.

3. Bridge jumping in Mostar

LP Across the Planet offers us a rare view of the bridge Jumpers in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The historic Stari Most bridge is 24 metres high. Locals and tourists regularly jump, but we wouldn't recommend attempting a belly flop.

4. Ala Moana Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii

The serene nature of Ala Moana Beach Park in Hawaii is captured by Catherine Toth during a trip to Honolulu.

5. Eating spiders in Cambodia

Sometimes a video is as close to the real thing as anyone needs to get. If you think you were brave eating escargot in France, you should try spiders in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

6. Inle Lake in Myanmar

Laura Bly provides a glimpse at the world in Myanmar including the unusual rowing style of the local boatman.

7. Fish tossing in Seattle

The fishmongers of Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle, USA show off a little more skill than is probably necessary for their job.

8. Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco

A picture can only do so much, as mrp's vine of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco proves. Listening to the fog horns in the distance, you might forget you're not actually there.

9. Hot air balloons in Cappadocia

We're taken on a remarkable hot air balloon ride over Cappadocia in Turkey, thanks to this six-second vine by Ben Forer. It's almost like Dr Seuss' imagination has been turned into reality.

10. Masai Women in Kenya

These Masai women in Kenya perform a traditional dance that if not for Luxe Tiffany's filming we might never get to see.

11. Traffic in Times Square

Danorst demonstrates the chaotic nature of Times Square in New York, along with the enormous billboards and high-rise buildings. However, the view from above is nothing compared to the frenetic atmosphere on ground level.

12. Gondola ride in Italy

Kirsten Allen takes us on a gondola ride down the Venice canals in Italy.

Ben Stower

I love the kind of travelling that is one part strategic planning and two parts spontaneous adventure. Whether I'm exploring my local city or a small town in the middle of nowhere, I'm always hoping to find something no one else has discovered.
