Imagine the most spacious rooms, or even Manhattan style loft apartments, exclusive fine dining, a private pool and lounge, and all with butler service. Now imagine that on a cruise ship. This, along with a “magic carpet” that hovers over the ocean and “indoor” balconies that change the way cruise cabins are designed and enjoyed, is what you can expect from Celebrity Cruises brand new ship, Celebrity Cruises.

Designed to transform expectations of ocean cruising and set a new precedent for ship design, Celebrity Edge will be the first in the Edge Class series of ships. Created by internationally renowned architects and designers using 3-D technology, this will be the first new ship class from Celebrity Cruises in 10 years.

Celebrity Edge is one of the most exciting, innovative and transformational ship I have ever been involved with,” said Richard D. Fain, Chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. “The new features and refined design with establish a new baseline for ships from here on out.”

A Magic Carpet Ride

The jewel in the crown for Celebrity Edge is the industry first, Magic Carpet, a floating platform the length of a tennis court that moves between decks to change purpose throughout the day and evening. At lunchtime it serves as an al fresco eating area on Deck 5, in the afternoon it becomes a DJ booth on the Deck 14 pool deck, and in the evening it rests at Deck 16 as an exclusive fine dining restaurant.

Exclusive Luxury

Celebrity Edge is fitted with luxurious Suite Class accommodation, including two 792 sq. m. Iconic Suites and the Edge Villas, which are more like Manhattan style loft apartments than ship cabins, complete with private spas and direct access to the exclusive The Retreat Sundeck. All suites, villas and Edge Staterooms are fitted with exclusively designed king-size cashmere mattresses – an industry first. The Retreat Sundeck, an exclusive utopia for all suite class guests, includes a private pool, lounge, round the clock butler service and exclusive restaurant Luminae @ The Retreat.

Infinite Verandas

One of the most innovative new design elements of Celebrity Edge is the “infinite” verandah. A balcony redefined, with the click of a button, floor to ceiling windows retract, leaving nothing but a glass railing between your cabin furniture and the passing sea. As a result, rooms can extend right to the edge of the ship, making them some 23 per cent larger and bathrooms 20 per cent larger than Celebrity’s current Solstice Class ships.

The Ultimate Deck

Celebrity Edge boasts no less than 14 passenger decks. The main Resort Deck is where you’ll find the outward facing pool deck, complete with private cabanas and martini-glass-shaped hot tubs. In the Rooftop Garden, a “playscape” inspired by childhood playgrounds, guests can play giant chess, enjoy live music or film and food evenings. The ship is also fitted with oversized artworks and art installations, which complement the futuristic ship design.

Celebrity Edge, which holds 3,373 passengers with 1,320 crew, will be based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her inaugural voyage will be on December 16, 2018. Servicing two seven-night itineraries in the eastern and western Caribbean, she will be joined by three sister ships in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
