Annaliese Esposito, a hotel wholesale expert,  recently flew to the glorious Daydream Island in the Whitsundays for a fantastic three night escape from reality.

She spent her time relaxing in the massive spa bath, playing mini golf, admiring the marine life  and chilling by the pool.

While it was difficult to tear herself away from chilling out on Daydream, Annaliese also signed up for a sailing day trip to Whitehaven Beach, so that she could see with her own eyes the white silica sand. Here are her favourite photos.

The Mermaid Statues

"When I saw these beautiful statues, I couldn't resist pretending to be a mermaid with them. You wait until the tide goes out and you sit in between the statues. The best time to see the mermaids is when the sun is setting. It's just beautiful," said Annaliese.

High Tide Over The Mermaids

"If you're pretending to be a mermaid as the tide is coming in, you will get wet. There's a great restaurant here called, rather fittingly, Mermaids. The owner of Daydream Island is all about being healthy, so each of these mermaids represents being healthy," said Annaliese.

On the water

"Cruise Whitsundays organises many day tours from the Island. I did a camira sailing adventure to Whitehaven Beach. This massive purple catamaran whips across the ocean. Whitehaven Beach was beautiful. I also snorkelled direct from the boat; I saw a baby sting ray and parrot fish," said Annaliese.

Holding a Reef Shark

.........................................................................................................................................................

"Daydream has this fantastic man-made open air lagoon called the Living Reef. It's full of marine wonders including sting rays. You even get to hold a shark. I know I was so brave! They tried to get me to kiss this Reef Shark but I was worried my partner would get jealous," said Annaliese.

Sunrise

"This is view from my room as the sun rose. I had the Coral View Room. From my window I could see turtles having a delicious jellyfish breakfast. On the island, there are also heaps of kangaroos and cockatoos, which came to my balcony for a feed. I tried to pat one rather unsuccessfully," said Annaliese.

Departing the Island

.........................................................................................................................................................

"The easiest way to get to and from Daydream Island is by flying to nearby Hamilton Island and taking the boat across - which takes about 30 minutes. When you arrive you're given a shell necklace and there are musicians that serenade you. This shot however was taken as we left - oh the memories - #backtoreality," said Annaliese.
