Auckland is the largest international gateway to the Land of the Long White Cloud.
Needless to say, it's home to an abundance of awesome. One day will never be enough to see all the sights and try the culinary delights, but you can see every angle of Auckland in a single day while experiencing thrills and learning about the fascinating history of how Auckland came to be. This is how to take on the City of Sails.
Book A Morning Bridge Climb
The bridge climb will claim 1.5 hours of your time and it's worth every minute. You're lead by a local guide with an extensive wealth of knowledge over, under and inside the bridge. When you reach the top, the view is phenomenal and the wind is fresh. It's undoubtedly the best way to view Auckland’s skyline.
If you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can take a leap from the world’s first harbour bridge Bungy over the Waitemata Harbour. The Auckland bridge climb and Bungy is a Qualmark endorsed visitor activity. Qualmark is New Zealand tourism’s official stamp of quality, which basically means the experience is worth experiencing.
Fun fact: Did you know that the Bungy jump was innovated in New Zealand by AJ Hackett and Henry van Asch?
An Afternoon Jet Boat Adventure
Book this in for around 2pm. This allows enough time between the Bridge Climb and the Jet Boat to decide where you want to eat (not an easy choice) and explore some of the urban gems the city has to offer. One of the best things about Auckland is that everything downtown is accessible by foot.
The Auckland Adventure Jet is an adrenalin-pumping activity that will have you travelling 100kmph... sideways! The talented driver will take you on a high-speed adventure through the harbour doing tricks and spins.

Can't choose? Take our quiz! Which New Zealand Experience Is Right For You?
Take a break for a bite. An Appetite For Auckland will show you how.
You will get wet, but you are provided with all the gear to keep mostly dry..ish! The driver also stops from time to time to give you a brief history lesson and to point out some noteworthy sights.
Hot tip: the back of the jet is the splash zone. Let that influence your seating selection as you will.
A Sky High Evening At Sky City
This is where you say farewell to the sun as it dips below the skyline. The Sky Tower stands at 328 meters tall and boasts a world-class casino, over 20 restaurants, cafes and bars, including a rotating restaurant that offers 360-degree views as you dine.
The casino is not personally my jam. You will, however, find me on the 360-degree viewing deck on level 52 accessed by glass fronted lifts. For those who are nervous about heights, the lift up is yet another one of New Zealand’s thrill rides.
For those seeking even more thrill, you can book yourself on a Sky Walk or a Sky Jump from a height of 192 Metres. Sky City really has everything to get your heart pumping!
