UPDATE (23/3/16):

In response to the recent events in Brussels last night, the union representing the Australian Immigration and Border Protection has decided to cancel the planned 24-hour strike action on Thursday 24 March.

This strike was intended to affect all union-affiliated airports around Australia, but will no longer go ahead. International passengers departing and flying into Australia should still give themselves additional time for increased security measures.

Read on for the full timetable of strike times around the country.

Australian Immigration and Border Protection has confirmed rolling strikes at airports around the country starting Tuesday, 22 March.

These strikes will affect all international travellers flying into and out of Australian airports from 22-31 March, with most strikes lasting anywhere between one and 24 hours. Strikes will not take place Saturday, 26 March.

Delays are anticipated. Passengers departing Australia during this time should give themselves at least three hours to complete border protection.

Those arriving into Australia should also expect lengthy wait times that might affect connecting flights. Cruise departures and arrivals may also be impacted.

I love the kind of travelling that is one part strategic planning and two parts spontaneous adventure. Whether I'm exploring my local city or a small town in the middle of nowhere, I'm always hoping to find something no one else has discovered.
