Jordan Albury, a member of the Flight Centre’s Marketing team, with five other burnt out and frazzled thirty-somethings were looking for an escape with a seven-month old baby. But where can you can go for a flop and drop holiday with a small child? The answer: Bali.

“Our goal was for the seven of us (including Baby Gus) to go somewhere for a COMPLETE break.

And we certainly did that. We were treated like royalty at The Villas.”

 Our own private idaho

The Villas is made up of 50 private villas, each with their own private swimming pool and tropical garden. The Villas are located in Seminyak, an area that escapes the bustle of Kuta but still offers a huge range of restaurants and upmarket bars.

“I have worked in the industry for many years, and had heard lots of great reviews of The Villas from colleagues, and now I will be joining this growing fan club.

Looking across our villa with its own private garden and pool, the beautiful reality met the photos in the glossy brochures and kept going.”

 Private pool enjoyment

The Five-Star treatment starts from the moment you get off the plane. You are met at the airport and a 15-minute car ride has you at your own little oasis.

“We were looked after so beautifully the whole time. With our villa, there was a central area for dining and lounging with lots of day beds, and quite separate bedrooms.

I have to mention the food: gorgeous breakfasts prepared in your own Villa, themed barbeques every night and a constantly delightful menu providing all the specialties of the island. When it came to mealtimes there was never a dull moment.

We had a suckling pig on one night and then on another night we had a Balinese themed meal. The whole of our garden and the pool was decorated with homemade decorations and hundreds of candles. It was quite magical.”

How was all this decadence and indulging achieved with a 7-month old?

“We were put onto two great things that made staying at such a place with Baby Gus an absolute breeze.

Firstly, Bali Babies has the whole range of necessary baby and toddler equipment – things like prams, and toys, all for a very reasonable price.

And secondly, The Villas have the most divine nannies, which we used for the couple of nights we dragged ourselves away from the Five-Star food at our villa.

Also, we went to some well-known groovy jaunts in Seminyak, like Ku-de-Tah and the Woo Bar for sunset cocktails. Both were very relaxed and family friendly, 'The atmosphere was a perfect fit for our whole group'

Seminyak has plenty of different types of cuisines that range from more casual Chinese dumpling restaurants to places like Motel Mexocola, a brilliant Mexican place.

The meal that I had at Ku-de-Tah was one of the best I have ever had, rivalling any restaurant I have been to in Australia.

Our goal for the week in Bali was to recharge the batteries. With the relaxing around our private pool and hanging out in our own tropical garden, I think that we can give a big tick for that one.

 Batteries recharged.

And also I think we can show that Bali and places like the Villas can provide some much-needed downtime and a little bit of indulgence even with a baby in tow.”
