South East Asia is brimming with beautiful beach holiday possibilities. In fact there are so many destinations it might be difficult to figure out which is going to suit your needs best. Some places are better for families, some for party goers and others for romance-seeking couples. If you're not sure which place will best suit you, I've created a little guide to assist, which includes appropriate hotels in the area. Enjoy booking your next beach escape.

Bali

For families

Bali is a friendly destination for families and an easy place to have a relaxing holiday with young ones. Many hotels cater especially for children with activity programs, large family rooms with toys, discounted interconnecting rooms and free or discounted children's meals. Babysitters are also available at very reasonable rates.

Some resorts for families include Semara Resort and Spa, Ayana Resort and Spa,  Amanusa, Karma Kandara, Alila Uluwatu and Karang Kembar. In terms of beaches, the laid back vibes of Seminyak and Legian make them good for families.

For party goers

Bali is well known as a party destination – the southern regions of Kuta, Legian and Seminyak are where you'll find its top nightlife venues and best clubs. Some popular hotels in these areas include Bounty Hotel, Dewi Sri Hotel and Barong Hotel.

For honeymooners and couples

With its laid-back feel and dreamy landscapes, Bali offers the perfect setting for couples and honeymooners. Phuket

For families

The Thai people are very kid friendly and several Phuket hotels have fabulous set ups to take the pressure off tired mums and dads. Many resorts have supervised kids clubs and babysitting services, and most also have children's pools and many other activities for families. Some well appointed family-friendly hotels in Phuket include Novotel Phuket, Thavorn Beach Village and Spa, Laguna Beach Resort, Holiday Inn, Mövenpick and Centara Grand.

The ideal family beach has shallow waters, adequate shade, child-friendly activities and easy access to food and drink. In terms of beaches, Kata is generally favoured by families, no matter what time of year with its beautiful white sand and almost crystal clear waters. Nai Harn, Kamala and Bangtao beaches are also good for families.

When it comes to nightlife, Patong Beach is undeniably party central with Bangla Road at its heart. This ever-growing resort town is abuzz with holiday vibes with an astonishing array of hotels, restaurants, boutiques, clubs and attractions. Krabi

For families

Koh Samui

For families

From gourmet restaurants to full moon parties,  Koh Samui has some of the best nightlife in Thailand. On this island you'll find discos, clubs, music venues, bars, restaurants, classical Thai dancing, mud wrestling and even weekly Thai Lady boxing.

Most clubs and bars are concentrated in and around the area of Chaweng. This is where most young people stay on the island. Some recommended hotels in this area include Chaweng Regent Beach Resort, Amari Palm Reef Koh Samui, OZO Chaweng and Sareeraya Villas and Suites.

Penang
