We recently asked our Facebook friends to spill their secrets on the best outlet shopping in the USA and they did not disappoint! Here are the top 5 hottest outlet shopping destinations in the USA as voted by our Facebook fans.
Premium Outlets - Las Vegas
“I had to buy another suitcase to bring all my shopping home!" – Bec Hose.
Las Vegas is synonymous with outlet shopping and the two centres that dominate most of the foot traffic are Premium Outlets North and South. Located just a 15-minute drive from one another or one hour on the SDX bus, both outlets offer discounts of between 25 - 65% at more than 200 retailers from Salvatore Ferragamo to Nike.
Citadel – Los Angeles
“Citadel is great if you have layover in LAX" – Megan Monsour.
Citadel is arguably Los Angeles’ best shopping destination to get serious bang for your buck. Take Bus 62 from Downtown LA to arrive in shopping heaven in just 30 minutes. Citadel offers 30 - 70% discount across more than 130 retailers, including American Apparel, H&M and Banana Republic.
Woodbury – New York
“Great for shopping and the fabulous views of Manhattan on the return journey" – Kerry Dolan.
If shopping the streets of New York City gets a bit overwhelming and you’ve still got some spare coin, make your way to Woodbury Commons Outlet, about 90-minutes north of Manhattan. Take the City Sights or Grayline bus from the Port Authority Bus Terminal just a block or two from Times Square and make a day of it. Woodbury Commons offers discounts between 25 - 65% at more than 220 retailers, including Saks 5th Avenue, Chloe and Balenciaga.
Allen’s – Dallas
“Just like Vegas - but cheaper!” – Van O’Grady.
The further off the beaten path, the more treasure there is to find. In this case, it’s savings up to 65% at a selection of 100 retailers including Neiman Marcus, Ann Taylor and Polo Ralph Lauren. If you’re driving, Allen’s is 30 minutes from Dallas and passes Lewisville Lake on the way (a great place to drop the boys for a day of fishing). Allen’s also offers a shuttle bus from all Dallas hotels.
Ala Moana – Honolulu
“Less sales tax - it rocks!” – Jess Thomson.
It’s true: everything is better in Hawaii. Take a stroll from the beautiful Waikiki beach with the sand still between your toes and enjoy an afternoon of reduced tax shopping. Hawaii has a low sales tax of around 4% compared to New York's 7%. The Ala Moana Centre is Honolulu’s most popular shopping destination with close to 300 stores, including Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Hermes.
