City Scoop: Phuket

10 November 2015

Phuket is one of Thailand's most popular provinces for travellers from Australia and all over the world. With its bustling beachfront resort town of Patong Beach coupled with a collection of untouched island escapes, Phuket offers a refreshing range of experiences.

It's hard to decide upon what to see, eat and where to venture out. To make your life a little easier Tracy Goodall, general manager of Busabout's Asia operations, has offered an insider's guide on Phuket.

Phuket's Similan Islands are perfect for divers

Food

Phuket street food – Street food in Thailand is a must because it’s well priced, tastes great and is what the locals eat. If you’re looking for something healthy and organic check out the Raw Cafe in Rawai or We Cafe in Chalong.

After Dark

On the Rock – Phuket has everything from beachfront bars to mega clubs. On the Rock at Karon Beach has delicious seafood and is a great spot to sip a sunset cocktail.

Play

Nai Harn Beach – Nai Harn Beach is my favourite in Phuket. It’s not on the tourist trail, so you’ll find plenty of space, plus there are markets and numerous food options.

Day Trip

Similan Islands – Head to the Similan Islands for the day and immerse yourself in marine heaven – a snorkelling and diving paradise.

Secret Tip

Insider info – If you want to balance your partying with some fitness, then Phuket has it all. Choose from Muay Thai boxing to yoga classes, and Ashtanga lovers should head to Ganesha Yoga in Rawai.
