For most of the year, Chelsea Groot and Saskia Boxem organise fantastic holidays for their customers in Coffs Harbour and Sydney. But recently, they decided to have a break and jetted to Vanuatu for some well earned rest and relaxation.

"We stayed at the Grand Hotel and Casino for a couple of nights and the Warwick Le Lagon Resort & Spa for several nights. It was so nice just to relax and enjoy that glorious South Pacific sunshine. It's a good escape for people who live in the city - it's such a short flight that you could go for three or four days or much longer to fully recharge the batteries. I think Vanuatu appeals to all types of travellers - families, couples, friends and retirees. We were there during schoolies and those kids were having a great time," said Chelsea.

"We did a couple of day trips. We went across to Hideaway Island, a scenic atoll just off the coast, which is terrific for snorkelling. We also did a waterfall walk and a glass bottom boat trip on another day."

The local marine life

"It was pretty good snorkelling there. The guides took us out to see big sea turtles but we saw a lot more fish. There were lots of weird things in sea. I have no idea what this fish is but it looks so striking," said Chelsea.

The waters around Hideaway Island

"From a glass bottom boat - there were hundreds of fish. The guides throw french bread sticks into the water. The water was just beautiful. A fantastic family activity," said Chelsea.

The Hideaway Island Resort

.........................................................................................................................................................

"Although Hideaway Island is just off the coast from Efate, it feels so secluded. The resort is very popular especially with families. This was the deck attached to one of the rooms. It juts out over the sand," said Chelsea.

The Underwater Post Office

.........................................................................................................................................................

"There's a man in here at Hideaway Island. He sits there . You can buy underwater postcards on land and you take it him. He's there a couple of times a day for about 30 minutes. It's not very deep. It's easy to just swim down him. There were many people doing it," said Chelsea.

The Beach on Hideaway Island

.........................................................................................................................................................

"There's no photoshop here - it really is that blue and that white. It's amazing. The snorkelling here is terrific. I've never seen so many fish in my life. It's so quiet and there are no waves," said Saskia.

The Mele Cascades

.........................................................................................................................................................

"We walked up there- it took about 20 minutes. We walked up onto the rocks. You can swim underneath the waterfall - its refreshing and cold. You're right in the rainfrorest which is really nice,. Suitable for all types of people. Little kids can swim if they to. Mele Cascades with Kayaking & Snorkelling - I really enjoyed the waterfalls and snorkelling, the guides were so lovely, enjoyable atmosphere, beautiful landscapes and snorkelling, thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it," said Chelsea.

View from the Grand Hotel and Casino

"We stayed in the Grand for two nights. It was really nice to be in the city and to experience that part of Vanuatu. This is the view from our balcony facing across to the Iririki Island Resort. It was pretty awesome," said Saskia.

The Lagoon at the Holiday Inn

.........................................................................................................................................................

"I thought the Holiday Inn was just fabulous - it was so nice and quiet and overlooked incredible blue water and white sand. We went kayaking here but I couldn't resist taking this photo of this yacht," said Saskia.

The Bungalows at the Holiday Inn

.........................................................................................................................................................

"These would be perfect for a honeymoon. From the bungalow there's a private terrace with steps that lead into the water. You can literally swim from your bungalow. And you can't really see your neighbours - it's very secluded," said Saskia.

Port Vila Market

.........................................................................................................................................................

"This market operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week. It really is a local market and a great way to see the local way of life. It's right on the main street in Port Vila so you can't really miss it. You can buy fruit and vegetables including coconuts, bananas and many other fresh treats," said Chelsea.
