Take A Haute Holiday to Fashion Week

27 March 2015

Fashion, glamour, cameras, lights, champagne, action. For the ultimate girly escape, look no further than Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival. Last week, we experienced this glamourous adventure with its fun, excitement and all the frills.

Why not go 'all out' and plan a Sex and the City-style weekend to the fashion festival with your pals? We suggest sashaying into your very own fashion experience with a premium festival package. You'll be pampered with VIP treatment and lots of freebies. Here's a little guide on how you could make the most of this glittering event...

Live it up in five stars

Arrive in Melbourne and have a dedicated driver pick you up and take you to your hotel. To really glam it up, book one of Melbourne's five-star establishments. We stayed at the Crown Metropol, a newly refurbished five-star luxury hotel close to all the action of Southbank and the city. There are an array of beautiful hotels to choose from in Melbourne; you could try the Langham, the Marriott, the Park Hyatt, Hotel Windsor or one of the Art Series hotels.

Get pretty

Once you're all dressed to impress, head to the show venue. This year, there was a Priceline Pharmacy pop-up beauty bar outside for everyone to enjoy. We had our makeup retouched and our hair straightened – and there were goodie bags for everyone. To capture this glamourous moment, a professional photographer took a snap of us in front of the official Fashion Festival placard.

When you're all beautified and looking fabulous, it's time to head up the black carpet lined by some very stylish Virgin hostesses. These ladies are super friendly and helpful – gliding gracefully about the crowds like cerise swans.

Behind the scenes

If you're lucky, you might be able to arrange a sneak peek backstage. We caught a few models and a YouTube star in preparations.

Be waited on

Before the big show, indulge yourself and sample some fine champagne and canapés in the Fashion Lounge, an enchanting space behind the runway where you can to absorb the exciting atmosphere.

Ready for the runway

After a nice glass of bubbly, you're ready to take your seat by the runway.  If you can, we really recommend getting the front row. It's a spine tingling experience! Our seats also came with a gift from Priceline Pharmacy.

The models floated down the catwalk and we saw fabulous creations from Carla Zampatti, Alex Perry and more. There are all sorts of shows on offer including womenswear, menswear, graduates, kidswear – even Target had Jessica Mauboy performing.

After the show you can head back to the Fashion Lounge or head on to a post-show party with more champagne and yummy food.

This really is a top-to-toe girly indulgence. You could go to a few shows over a couple of days and explore Melbourne in between. So start planning your outfits and gathering your pals, and parade your way to next year's  festival!
