The Greek Islands are the perfect destination for an island hopping adventure. These Mediterranean gems that number anywhere between 1,200 to 6,000 island, have been grouped together and given collective names such as the Ionian Islands, the Dodecanese Islands and the Cyclades - so for first time visitors, it can be a little over-whelming where to head. The most popular islands include Santorini, Mykonos, Crete and Rhodes. Recently, Flight Centre consultants had the opportunity to holiday in the region.

The Windmills of Mykonos

"The windmills are an iconic symbol of Mykonos; I had to take a photo of them. They really are mesmerising," said Todd Burton.

Structures built over sea on Mykonos

"I toured Greece for two weeks with my now fiancé and three of my friends. I started in Athens, before travelling to Mykonos, Ios and finished on Santorini, catching ferries between each Island. On a backpackers budget, we managed to live on €1 gyros for the whole trip! When this photo was taken, it was super humid and we were just happy to be walking around the town taking in the everyday happenings. I remember it being really quiet and peaceful," said Karina Mclean, a consultant based at Flight Centre Lakehaven.

A View From The Streets of Oia

"I spent a day on the island of Santorini as part of a 10 night Celebrity cruise around the Mediterranean. I came across this interesting entrance while walking the tiny little streets in Oia, on the island of Santorini. The heat was almost unbearable and with all the white buildings everywhere the sun was blinding. I stopped here to take a breathe, let a donkey pass (not kidding!) and look at the view. I noticed it was such a simple yet striking entrance, with the carefully arranged dark stones under the window and nothing else but white and blue. There are stunning views of the caldera at every turn but to think of this view being at the front doorway of your home ... it is amazing," said Anna Shannon, the Manager of Flight Centre North Ryde store.

Looking over the ocean off Santorini

"Looking out over the ocean, it was not too far off Sunset, hence the golden tinge, I was mesmerised by these boats that bobbed up and down with the waves," said Karina.

Oia, Santorini

"As the day grew old, the buildings went from white, to cream, to yellow and then finally to red... until it was dark - amazing," said Karina.

Time for a break on Santorini

"This was taken in Santorini on a day out from the ship - we hired a scooter and just spent all day exploring from one side of the island to the other. This was at a little restaurant with the ultimate view and a table just waiting for us to sit down and have a cold beer!" said Talia Schutte.

An iconic blue roof of Santorini

"Those famous blue roofs - I had seen them in postcards and dreamt of seeing them in person. We had perfect weather on this day - also a day off from ships and went to Oia just to take photos of the blue roofs," said Talia.

Ancient Pillars on Delos

"This was taken on the island of Delos close to Mykonos. I found it fascinating as it's so ancient and these pillars were still standing and the stone work was so perfect. Also I loved the statue of the person that used to live in this house. Everything has been beautifully restored," said Talia.
