30 October 2013

Michelle Rawlinson, a consultant in Runaway Bay, Queensland, Katie Hemann, the Team Leader at Whitfords Flight Centre, Melissa Campbell, a consultant in Greensborough, Victoria and Kylie Yankos, a consultant based at Melton, Victoria recently headed to Vietnam for a fascinating cultural expedition. Throughout their trip, the team took a walking tour of Hoi An through the ancient quarter and past the pagodas, they cycled to the surrounding villages around Hoi An and embarked on a My Son the Holy Land Tour, where they admired the 70 Hindu-like towers and temples. Also on the itinerary was a Hanoi Tour, a cooking and market tour in Hanoi and a street food by night tour. These are just some of the great images they've returned with.

Street Seller in the Old Town, Hoi An

"In the midst of the old town, I stumbled across the street seller. I was captivated by the little whistlers she was selling. There many people selling these types of different trinkets around the city," said Michelle.

Hoi An

"Between certain hours there's a part of the city that is pedestrian-only. It's somewhere where you can just sit and watch the world go by," said Michelle.

Ornamental Dragons

"Bright coloured dragons filled the street markets of Hanoi. Dragons are the symbol of the emperor as well as the prosperity and power of the nation," said Kylie.

Champa Ruins

"My Son Holy Land Tour was an amazing day tour. We got to see the religious monuments in the ancient kingdom of the Champa people. It was great being told about the history, seeing the ruins and admiring the beauty of the green land," said Kylie.

Hoi An

"Hoi An is such an amazingly beautiful quaint village.  Down every street you find another hidden gem. This river runs through the old town of Hoi An," said Kylie.

Temple of Literature, Hanoi

"On a city walking tour of Hanoi we came across the temple of literature. Vietnam is a country of strong intellectual and cultural traditions," said Kylie.

Nam Hai Resort, Hoi An

"Paradise at your fingertips. One of the most beautiful resorts I've stayed at anywhere in the world... Absolutely stunning," said Katie.

One Pillar Pagoda, Hanoi

"So amazing and beautiful. The One Pillar Pagoda was built in 1049 by Ly Thai Tong to honour his wife for giving him a son. I took the photo as the architecture is stunning and the surrounds are tranquil," said Katie.

My Son Hindu Temples, Duy Xuyen (near Danang)

"We arrived at this mystical place early in the morning just after the rain stopped, with the clouds cascading down - it felt like the Temples were sleeping. I spent a little time there by myself. It was great to capture some images without other people in them. It such a beautiful and spiritual area," said Katie.

Nam Hai Spa, Hoi An

"The Nam Hai Spa is one of the most lauded hotel spas in the world. And I can see why, it's so beautiful," said Melissa.

Nam Hai Spa, Hoi An

"There are eight treatment pavilions that look as though they are floating on the water. All the treatment pavilions have an open air deck where the deep soak bathtub faces the lake," said Melissa.
