Foodbank is aiming to beat hunger and a world record with the World's Biggest Hamper Pack Challenge this year.
The event, to be staged on October 17, 2017 (the day after World Food Day), will see 10,000 food relief hampers packed across the country in one day.
That means food on the table for 10,000 Aussie families. Foodbank, which is proudly supported by the Flight Centre Foundation, is Australia’s largest food relief organisation, providing 172,000 meals a day to Aussies in need through frontline charities and schools.
In an effort to raise awareness of the hunger issue in Australia, from August 1 to September 30, Flight Centre staff will be Foodbank Ambassadors, inviting customers to help us reach the goal of 10,000 hampers.
And the recipients are not who you’d think. As Foodbank says, it’s not just people on the street, it’s people in our street. The face of hunger is diverse, with one in six people experiencing food insecurity at some point in the year. Children make up one in three.
As little as $20 will ensure one hamper – containing a mix of vegetables and sausages, cereal, spaghetti, fruit, rice, tuna, baked beans, soup and more – makes its way to a family.
Donors will also go into the draw to win a holiday!
