Washington, DC isn’t all politics; there are plenty of great dining options, museums and hole-in-the-wall bars to explore. You just need to know where to look!

We chatted with Virginia Blanca Arrisueno, owner and designer at DeNada, about her favourite places to eat, drink and play in America's capital city.

Washington DC Washington DC - an American icon

Rose’s Luxury – This cosy neighbourhood restaurant is more than a place to relax. For every meal Rose’s Luxury serves, it donates 25 cents to World Food Program USA to help feed hungry children around the world.

The Red Hen – With its extensive wine and cocktail lists, this intimate restaurant is my favourite place to kick back and enjoy a drink.

The Yards Park – This well-designed new park has a great riverfront location, relaxing lounge chairs and fun water features that kids love. Plus, it’s home to one of my favourite ice-cream shops in DC – Ice Cream Jubilee.

Day Trip

Theodore Roosevelt Island – Floating in the middle of the city, this place is a great spot to get back to nature. I love picnicking on a bench and exploring the trails that traverse the island.
