Melbourne-based Consultants Clinton and Samantha Relax On Boracay

4 December 2013

After spending a couple nights in the Philippine capital, Manila, Melbourne-based consultants Clinton Symons and Samantha McKenzie headed across to the magical resort island of Boracay for some serious rest and relaxation. They took a domestic flight to Caticlan from where they boarded a boat for simple trip across the water.

Once on the island, the duo spent their days making the most of the spectacular location. They did an island hopping adventure, which took them to the nearby Crystal Cove Island Resort, where they donned snorkelling gear to admire the incredible array of tropical fish. Clinton says that Boracay is predominantly a water sport destination where sailing, wakeboarding, water skiing and scuba diving are the most popular pastimes.

Approaching the Shangri-La

"This is my first image of the Shangri-La as we approached the property by boat. It took about 20-minutes to cross the water. It was absolutely spectacular. The private villas and the turquoise water is just unbeatable," said Samantha.

The Private Beach at the Shangri-La

"The Shangri-La has a private beach that only guests can use. It's nestled in this cosy cove. The location is just amazing," said Samantha.

"We did an island hopping tour to Crystal Cove. Its absolutely stunning. There are grottos where you can go swimming and the snorkelling is amazing," said Samantha.

The Beautiful Island of Boracay

"On the island hopping tour, I sat in the net that was connected to the side of the boat as we travelled along. It was a great way to get a tan. I took this photo looking back to Boracay," said Samantha.

The Beach at Discovery Shores

"As the sun was setting, we enjoyed cocktails on this beautiful beach. It was a fantastic end to a great day. We ate at the restaurant here also - at Discovery Shores. The chef even came out to describe the options on the menu. We had a wonderful five course meal. I was in heaven," said Clinton.

The Pool at the Shangri-La

"We stayed at the Shangri-La. It was amazing. The resort has its own private beach and the staff were really friendly - they would always say hello to you. It's located in the north part of the island away from the central area - but in saying this, it's only a ten minute ride to get into town with these motorised tricycles. This photo is of just part of the pool  but I was captivated by it's outlook," said Clinton.

Overlooking the Coastline from the Shangri-La

"The Shangri-La has these exceptional villas. You can choose from a pool villa, an ocean villa and a beach villa. The ocean villas look out over the magnificent waterways. I was just like, 'wow.' If you stay in these villas, the resort has these little carts to chauffeur you around," said Clinton.

The Shangri-La Pool

"This is another shot of the Shangri-La Pool. It's the perfect spot to chill out," said Clinton.
