The Sebel Shines On The South Side

2 March 2015

This week, the Sudima Suites officially completed its transition to the Sebel South Brisbane. The hotel is the latest addition from Accor, and the hotel group's first on the south side of the Brisbane River.

No doubt Accor will breathe new life into the hotel, but hospitality and first-class service has shone since its very beginnings.

"What I have always set out to do is provide a luxurious home away from home," General Manager and owner, Mayoor Thakeria says fervently.

With 30 years experience in hospitality, passion and enthusiasm absolutely radiates from Mayoor.

"What myself and the team are all about is warm, old-fashioned hospitality."

 Contemporary, spacious and chic

From queen studios to premier one-bedroom apartments, accommodation options are chic, spacious and self-contained with modern European appliances, including a washer/dryer and kitchenette facilities.

But who wants to cook when a myriad of restaurants in both South Bank and 'The Gabba' are just a short walk away? Guests also receive 20 per cent off meals at local watering hole and perennially popular steakhouse, The Morrison Hotel.

Easy CBD connections are made possible at the Mater Hill Busway Station, right on the hotel's doorstep, and the hotel is the destination of choice for those attending events at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, South Bank or West End.

 Sebel South Brisbane's lap pool

Back onsite is the third floor recreation space, which includes a small, yet functional fitness room and lap pool.

However, the hotel's piece de resistance is the top floor Sky Deck, a sprawling rooftop space with 360-degree views that extend across to the city, Story Bridge, Gabba and Mt Cootha. The SkyDeck doubles as a function area, with standing room for 150-200 guests, and is available for external bookings.

The most coveted apartment is 1104, an incredibly roomy one bedroom apartment with a generous wrap-around balcony, which can also be converted into a meeting space for up to 50 delegates.

 The view from the top

Sure, the Sebel South Brisbane deserves its 4.5-star rating; it's comfortable, clean and has all the comforts and conveniences for a pleasant stay (including free Wi-Fi), but it's the hospitality that truly sets Sebel South Brisbane apart from its counterparts.

"We are in it for the long haul. There's a lot of passion and vision and wanting to do the right thing [by our guests]. We all work together as a unit, as a family.

"We may not be 100% all the time, but we'll put in 100% all of the time."

Combining an unbeatable location with luxurious apartment style living and great hotel facilities, The Sebel South Brisbane is an ideal choice for business and leisure travellers alike who are seeking an alternative to the hustle and bustle of the CBD or Fortitude Valley.

Come as a guest, leave as one of the family.

"My staff are friendly, not just hotel friendly," Mayoor tells me with a smile.
