Skydive in Wanaka

13 July 2011

On Sam Locke's recent trip to New Zealand she dropped by Skydive Wanaka to catch up with Jools and of course be introduced to their gorgeous new skydive passenger aircraft! Dave and Jools Hall started Skydive Wanaka in 1995 and still own and fully operate the company today. Skydive Wanaka has been operating for 16 years with the best safety record in New Zealand!

How many people have skydived with Skydive Wanaka?

Many, many, many thousands of customers!

What is the best thing about Skydiving?

I believe skydiving cannot be compared to any other sport - it is so unique. The feeling that you get in freefall is like nothing else you can feel. It's a challenge - to jump out of a plane is for most people a life changing experience and we deliver this to our customers every day. Whether it is conquering a fear, or just to have fun, a skydive in my opinion is the best experience you can ever have!

What advice do you have for nervous first-timers?

SMILE - This is going to be the best experience of your life

Take big deep breaths - allow yourself time to really think and feel

TRUST - that the beautiful stranger you have strapped yourself to knows exactly what he is doing and will bring you back to the ground safely!

What do you love about Skydiving and being in the business?

Waking up every day knowing that today you are going to change peoples lives - that today you are going to give people one of the best experiences of their lives and an experience that they will talk about and remember forever is a pretty special feeling. I have never ever met anyone who didn't enjoy their skydive - its about empowering people - they will take whatever they need to from their experience - our job is to ensure they have the best, safest and most positive experience they can.
