Picton-based Consultant Jenny-Lee Explores Spain

27 November 2013

It's the history, the architecture and that infectious Spanish spirit that make this European country a must experience for curious travellers. Recently, Jenny-Lee Gordon from Flight Centre's Picton store signed up for a Gems of Andalusia tour - which took her to the cities of Madrid, Seville, Toledo, Granada and Cordoba. Along the way, she watched a Flamenco Show, explored the iconic Alhambra and wandered through the streets of Seville. However it was Granada that would have to be her favourite destination with all the alley ways and markets. Here are some of the fantastic images she captured while in Spain.

Plaza de España, Seville

"We did a guided walking tour of the Seville. The Plaza de España was one the major attractions. I thought it was amazing; the Renaissance Revival style is just magnificent. Apparently it was built for the Exposition in 1929. It's surrounded by a little beautiful park called Parque de Maria Luisa," said Jenny-Lee.

Toledo

"Toledo has such a fascinating history with all the various rulers and cultures. I was stood in the old town and looked out across the valley. I thought the outlook was spectacular," said Jenny-Lee.

Typical Street, Cordoba

"The photo screams Spain to me. When you think of Spain you think of little alley ways, white buildings and brightly coloured decorations. I thought this street in Cordoba was really pretty," said Jenny-Lee.

Horse and Carriage, Cordoba

"I thought this was so cool. I really wanted to do a horse and carriage ride through the city but fortunately I didn't have time. It's definitely on my list when I return to Spain," said Jenny-Lee.

Cathedral-Mosque of Cordoba

"On one side of the street is the Cathedral-Mosque of Cordoba and on the other side is the Hotel Eurostars Maimonides - both structures make for a wonderful contrast. The cobblestone street rounds out my love of this setting," said Jenny-Lee.

Alhambra, Granada

"Touring the Alhambra was one of the highlights for me - the history, the story that goes with it and the architecture. It was mesmerising to explore," said Jenny-Lee.

Convent of San Francisco, Alhambra, Granada

"This is the Convent of San Francisco which was built in 1495 over an Arabian Prince's Palace. It's all within the Alhambra complex. It was so pretty up there," said Jenny-Lee.
