Get ready for some sizzling style in the Sunshine State. The 2015 Sunshine Coast Fashion Festival has been officially announced and is set to be more impressive than ever with an exciting line up of local, national and international design talent including some well known names.
This showcase of stunning fashion will take place on Saturday 17th October 2015 at the beautiful Palmer Coolum Resort, Coolum. The festival is a glittering, glamorous event and a must see for anyone into style.
Labels that dazzle
The line up for 2015 will feature a multitude of couture, ready-to-wear, ethical and indigenous designers and, of course, it wouldn’t be a Sunshine Coast fashion show without swimwear.
One of the exciting labels already signed up is 'Flowers by Julia Rose' – the amazing creations by this couture label are made out of fresh flowers and foliage and put together on the day of the show. In the past, the festival has showcased some great talent including Richard de Chazal, Lorna Jane, Ali Charisma, Elizabeth de Varga, Hive, SUBvert, Sunflair, OPERA and Embellished Kaftans.
Buy straight off the catwalk
The fabulous difference about the Sunshine Coast Fashion Festival is that guests can buy the designs they see on the catwalk after the show. "We have a special space set up that we call 'The Trade Lounge'," explains founder and director, Jacinta Richmond. "The labels have stalls where you can buy the items that have just been shown. These items aren't even in retail stores yet and most of the designers sell at wholesale prices."
A glittering awards night
There'll also be a glamourous awards ceremony in the evening to recognise the talented designers behind the labels and praise their hard work and dedication. Part of this ceremony will include presentations to a 'best dressed list' – 10 people from all walks of life on the Sunshine Coast picked out for their fabulous style.
Fostering new talent
It's important to Jacinta that the festival recognises and encourages emerging talent. "Most years I give a scholarship to a fashion student at the Sunshine Coast TAFE and mentor them for the year – they then get to do their official range at the festival," tells Jacinta. "While we have established labels, I love the discovery of an emerging label."
Packages to pamper
The Sunshine Coast Fashion Festival attracts fashionstas and journalists from Australia and oversees and sells out every year. "People are already purchasing tickets for this year and we haven't even announced the labels showing yet," says Jacinta.
If you fancy treating yourself there are some fabulous packages to the event. The 'Glamour and Luxe' package includes a deluxe overnight stay at Palmer Coolum Resort, goody bags, backstage passes, makeovers, a red carpet photo and more!
