The Most Insta-worthy Spots In Tropical North Queensland

22 April 2015

Queensland's Tropical North is pretty easy on the eyes and sure knows how to work what mother nature gave 'er.

Cairns and its surrounds wear waterfalls like an accessory that never goes out of style, while palm-fringed beaches accentuate the coastal curves.

"Oh, this? It's just a little beauty mark I like to call the Great Barrier Reef. What's that, you ask? Only the world's oldest tropical rainforest on earth – but I look pretty good for 135 million years old, right?"

Keen Instagrammers have hit the jackpot in Tropical North Queensland and the region's savvy tourism operators have wasted no time jumping on the Insta-wagon.

Tourism Tropical North Queensland has developed a handy Instamap, showcasing the most Instagrammable locations in the state's lush north. It was created from hundreds of Instagram submissions under the hashtag #exploreTNQ, from locals and global wanderers alike.

Hot spots for 'gramming range from Mission Beach in the south to Atherton Tableland favourites Lake Tinaroo and the Barron Gorge, the iconic Esplanade in Cairns, offshore Green and Fitzroy Islands, the northern beach hub of Palm Cove and rural charmers Cobbold Gorge and Undara.

Overall, there are 24 spectacular and very Insta-worthy sites on the map. The challenge now is to see how many you can capture for yourself!

Get your hands on a physical copy of the Instamap from the Cairns Post's 'Passport to Tropical North Queensland' publication, which is currently being handed out to around 200,000 visitors at the Cairns Airport as well as information centres.

Alternatively, keep a digital copy handy on your TNQ travels by downloading the Instamap from blog.tropicalnorthqueensland.org.au and get your Insta on in the Tropical North. Don't forget to tag #openmyworld for your chance to be shared by Flight Centre!
