Townsville residents and out-of-towners can pick up the cheapest airfare to New York seen in recent times exclusively at this Sunday’s Travel Expo and chat to the experts about their holiday plans.

The return economy flight to New York will be $933 cheaper if booked at the Travel Expo and is one of a number of discounted airfares only available at the expo, including a business-class flight to London that has a saving of $1,048.

Townsville’s Travel Expo is part of Australia’s biggest and best expo that exhibits in regional areas and major cities, offering exclusive deals and expert advice, backed by Flight Centre.

Townsville Flight Centre travel consultant Lindy Sampson is the brand’s number one agent globally and says Travel Expo is a not-to-be-missed event for locals dreaming of a trip this year.

“Townsville only has one big travel expo a year, so travellers planning a trip and wanting to make a saving shouldn’t miss Sunday as it’s their only opportunity to pick up amazing deals that aren’t available at any other time.

“I’ve had a sneak peek at some of the deals on offer for Sunday and there are some excellent fares to the States and quite a lot of great Europe specials, while all the tour companies have some really good discounts,” Lindy said.

Other exclusive deals only bookable at the Townsville Travel Expo include 20 percent off tours from Trafalgar, Peregrine, Intrepid and Geckos, savings of up to $2,499 per couple with On The Go, savings of $500 per couple with APT and Travelmarvel, up to $820 off a stay in Bali per couple and three free nights, plus many more.

“Travellers can essentially get discounts on top of discounts as most of the offers available on the day will be combinable, so customers can pick up tour company discounts and combine them with exclusive Travel Expo savings.”

The Travel Expo brings together travel agent experts, tourism partners and travel suppliers under one roof, allowing visitors to research, compare and book their holiday.

“My top tip for the Travel Expo is to come prepared with an idea in mind of where you want to go and possible dates so you can take advantage of the deals that are available for such a short time.

“One of the best advantages of the expo for consumers is that they will have access to travel experts they wouldn’t usually be able to get in contact with. Tourism boards, tour companies and airlines all exhibit and their people are amazing subject matter experts,” Lindy said.

Townsville Travel Expo is on Sunday, 17 January, from 10.00am to 4.00pm at The Ville Resort in the Grand Ballroom, located on Sir Leslie Thiess Drive.

Give me big cities and culture over nature and wide open spaces any day, with the exception of a white sandy beach of course. Consider me a traveller with champagne tastes on a beer budget; I'd love my time overseas to be more glamorous than it often is. When in a new city you'll find me exploring the back streets to discover hidden gems by day and chatting with the locals with a drink in hand by night.
