It's officially 2016! A whole new year lies ahead, brimming with possibilities. What will you do? Who will you meet? But most importantly, where will you go?

With a clean slate begging to be filled with places gone and things seen, it's time to start thinking about your resolutions. Skip the old standards; everyone will be resolving to lose those Christmas kilos and be more organised. Why not fill your list of 2016 to-dos with travel goals?

To assist in your quest to travel more in the New Year, dedicate yourself to make the most of your weekends. It doesn't matter if it's a mini camping trip to your favourite beach or a short break to someplace new with the kids, weekends are the perfect chance to escape it all for a day or two.

As you're taking stock of 2015 and looking ahead, make a list of all those places that you're dying to see. Writing them all down is the first step in planning to make them a reality.

With your list complete, resolve to visit at least one destination on said list. What else are you making that list for? While you're off gallivanting around the globe, make a point of getting out of your comfort zone every once in awhile. And what better way to do that than by eating a local delicacy?
