Those headed to California this January are in for a treat as film buffs and foodies unite for Santa Barbara's 5th annual Film Feast.

No ordinary film and food-inspired event, this year's festivities coincide with California's Restaurant Month and the 30th anniversary of Santa Barbara's International Film Festival. Running from 27 January to 7 February, it's going to be a 12 day perfect storm of film, food and fun!

Here's a sneak peek at what to expect.

Fade In: The Food

A number of top Santa Barbara restaurants are taking part in the festival this year. In fact, there will be 10 participating eateries developing special prix fixe Film Feast tasting menus that give cinema goers the chance to nosh between screenings.

Ranging from grub-to-go to multi-course menus, there will be something to tempt all taste buds. Highlights include Belcampo Meat Company's "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" sub special, and the two pound lobster dinner courtesy of Enterprise Fish Company's 30 Years of SBIFF ... and the Classics.

Though, it's Barbareno's seven-course taster that takes the top prize for creativity, as this California bistro-style restaurant is reaching all the way back to the golden age of cinema in 1985. Their menu will feature dishes inspired by such classics as "The Goonies" and "The Breakfast Club". Truffle shuffle anyone?

Cut To The Drinks:

Top tastes and tipple go hand in hand, so it's no wonder a number of wineries have also joined in on the fun. There will be six participating Santa Barbara cellars offing up special prices and pours for this year's Film Feast. They too are drawing inspiration from the film industry to select their libations.

Get into the festival spirit at the Oreana Winery and Tasting Room, which will be offering the Director's Cut. This includes an exclusive reserve selection of wines to accompany their winter tasting menu. Or, opt for the locally produced boutique wines on offer at the Margerum Wine Company. They'll be celebrating Film Feast with their Love, Wine and the Truth tasting in honour of the film "Vino Veritas".

SBIFF will kick off at Arlington Theatre on the 27th of January.

Intercut The Films:

.........................................................................................................................................................
What's a Film Feast without the films? The Santa Barbara International Film Festival has been drawing 'cinefiles' to the American Riveria for 30 years. It's a staple in the annual California events schedule and a showcase of both classic and emerging international films.

A full schedule of screenings will run over 12 days in conjunction with panels, tributes, achievement awards and other events in which film buffs get the chance to rub shoulders with the industry's top filmmakers and talent.

2015 will see the event kick off with a showing of "Desert Dancer" at the historic Arlington Theatre followed by the traditional Opening Night Gala. Ticket holders will descend on  the heart of downtown Santa Barbara as the Paseo Nuevo comes alive with food, drinks, dancing and live entertainment.
