With more than 100 kilometres of glorious coastline and a lush hinterland you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to places to stay on the Sunshine Coast. Noosa is the place to be if you want shopping and fine dining, with beachfront Hastings Street at the centre of things, although there are some good-value options on the river in nearby Noosaville, a slightly more laidback alternative with almost as many eateries and boutiques.
Other great beachfront locations south of Noosa include Maroochydore and Mooloolaba, where you’ll find a mix of resorts and high-rise holiday apartments. Mooloolaba, close to several family-friendly attractions, is a good option if you’re travelling with kids. Golf lovers should head to Coolum, and if you’re on a budget Caloundra has plenty of affordable choices.
The hinterland around Maleny, Montville and Mapleton has a hippy-trippy back-to-nature vibe and is home to an assortment of villages where eco and organic is the flavour of the day and you can hide away in rainforest retreats, romantic country cottages and charming B&Bs.
