Staying at the oh-so-social Contiki Haus Schöneck, nestled in the Austrian Tyrol, this trip takes you through some of Europe's most breathtaking scenery. You’ll hike, bike and picnic your way across the alps – and with swim-stops, home-cooked meals and plenty of laughs, this trip is sure to get your heart racing in more ways than one.

While most of our trips have large groups, the Detour trips are all about small group travel with 16 travellers (or even fewer on some itineraries!).

London: In classic Contiki style, your accommodation and transport are included in the trip.
Plus, we’ll sort out some meals and activities that are outlined in the itinerary.
That’s not all, though.
You’ll also have an expert Local Host to give you an inside scoop at every destination.
London: All you have to do is check whether you need a visa (and apply for one if you do!), book your insurance and arrange your transport to the start location of the trip.
We’ll handle the rest!London: Our Detour trips are short & sweet (and loaded with fun activities).
That’s why we don’t offer pre or post trip accommodation.
Hopfgarten im Brixental: You’ll need a moderate level of fitness for this trip since you’ll be hiking, biking and rafting.
You’ll also need to be able to swim if you wanna participate in white-water rafting.
There will be 1 course in the morning and 1 in the afternoon (between grade 2 & 3).
Both the courses are beginner friendly.
The bike ride on Day 3 is about 25 kms long, through valleys and some steep ascents.
But you can always take it at your own pace.
Paragliding has a 115kg (255 lbs) weight limit, but it’s not physically strenuous.
Hopfgarten im Brixental: Yes.
For your own safety, you must be able to swim to take part in the rafting on this trip (which is where we will spend most of Day 2).
Hopfgarten im Brixental: The alps are an incredible mountain range stretching across 8 Alpine countries: Monaco, France, Switzerland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Germany, Austria, and Slovenia.
Perfect for skiing, biking or hiking!Bucharest: Your Trip Manager will endeavour to cater for specific dietary requirements where possible.
Vegetarianism, lactose intolerance, and gluten intolerance will be catered for in most instances.
There are, however, some meals and activities that are fixed in advance and therefore cannot be modified to suit dietary requirements.

For those suffering from particular food allergies, your Trip Manager will endeavour to disclose to their fullest knowledge the main ingredients in the dishes being consumed.

As you make your way around the course, you’ll be half awestruck and half swimming in adrenaline.

Munich: Home of the world famous Hofbrauhaus Beer Hall.
Munich: Roll through the Bavarian city on two wheels with an expert guide, for a fun and fascinating jaunt.
Hopfgarten im Brixental: Ride the Gondola to the summit of Hopfgarten's highest peak, Hohe Salve with the opportunity to enjoy lunch with a view.
Hopfgarten im Brixental: Mountain Views? Check! We'll end the day with a sunset hike.
Tyrol: Time for action in the Tyrol's monumental mountains! Have a blast on the River Inn's rapids in an adrenaline-pumping ride.
Follow the river's surging course under the watch of professional Local Guides.
Don't worry: if you can swim, you're in – & before you hit the alpine waters, you'll be fully kitted out with wetsuits & safety helmets.
Innsbruck: We'll swing by Innsbruck for dinner en route home, a laid-back student city made famous by a medieval old town, an old Olympic Ski Jump & a Royal Palace.
Hopfgarten im Brixental: Jump on a bike & head out for a fully guided tour through picture-perfect Austrian mountain scenery.
In a region that is all about the outdoors, this is the perfect way to take in the fresh alpine air, waterfalls, mountain streams & meadows.
Once you've worked up an appetite, there's a BBQ lunch of Austrian wurst & kraut salad to finish.
Hopfgarten im Brixental: A member of the team will provide a departure transfer from Schoneck to Worgl Train Station.

Day 1 Hello there and welcome to the Alps! We'll pick you up at Worgl Train Station (included transfer, baby!) and once we've all set down our bags at Contiki Haus Sch?neck, we'll kick off the trip officially with a welcome meeting conducted by your Trip Manager. After that, we'll tuck into an included dinner - made fresh on-site with local ingredients. You've got a free night tonight too, so sit back, relax and get to know your fellow explorers.

Day 2 Fill up on a home cooked breakfast, before we set off to explore another nearby town for a hit of adrenaline. Here, you'll have the chance to swing through the trees - or explore the village on foot if that's not really your thing. After, we'll take a hike to the Eifersbacher Waterfall, before some free time in Saint Johann to grab a bite to eat with your new besties. Back to base for an evening to chill - did someone say trivia?

Day 3 Rise and shine folks, today we're taking a day trip across the border into Germany... Here in Munich, you'll have the chance to join an included guided bike ride, where you'll learn all about the city's history and finish up at the Chinese Beer Garden - and sample traditional food and beverages to your heart's content. Prefer to do your own thing? No biggie. You're free to check out the old town, the shopping streets and the university district. Tonight, why not wind down with dinner and drinks in the world-famous Hofbrauhaus? (It'd be rude not to after all.) Back in Hopfy, we'll hit the hay and get ready for another day of Alpine awesomeness on the morrow. It's a hard life...

Day 4 Another day, another picturesque hike with awesome people - and the chance to have lunch with a view. We'll take the gondola to the summit of Hohe Salve and check out the awesome views. You might like to have lunch up there, keep on hiking, or head back into town to grab a bite. The afternoon is yours to spend it as you wish - did someone say swimming in a gorgeous alpine lake? This evening, we'll have an included dinner followed by a sunset hike to really make the most of the mountain scenery.

Day 5 We'll start early this morning as we treat ourselves to more of the alps. Next stop? Haiming... Here in Haiming, you'll have the chance to experience heart-pounding action with some white water rafting. After an included picnic lunch, we'll head back to the water for a second round of white water rafting - this time, on a slightly harder route. By the end of the day, you'll be a total pro. Next up, we'll make our way to Innsbruck, where you'll have some free time to explore the city and grab a bite to eat. Back in Haus Sch?neck, you'll have plenty of things to dream about tonight...

Day 6 After conquering the village trails, it's time to explore Hopfgarten and beyond in a different way; this time on 2 wheels. Join us for a locally guided bike tour through the vibrant green trails, before cruising downhill for a well-earned BBQ lunch. Fancy one last adrenaline hit? You can opt for some tandem paragliding today, soaring over the alps for some peerless panoramas. Tonight, you can choose to join us for a farewell authentic Austrian dinner at a local restaurant. Pork knuckle, anyone?

Day 7 Whether you take our complimentary transfer to Worgl or make your own way to your next destination, it's time to say goodbye to your new friends and Hopfgarten (which feels like a home away from home now, right?) Don't worry though, once you've swapped contact deets with your new Contiki crew, there's bound to be a new adventure on the horizon soon.
