Ovation of the Seas Onboard Experiences
Dining and bars
From tempting new restaurants to classic Royal Caribbean offerings, Ovation of the Seas has dining experiences and bars to delight every passenger. Highlights include Wonderland Imaginative Cuisine, is a whimsical restaurant with equally unique meals, inspired by the story of Alice in Wonderland and showcasing the true creativity of the chefs. Jamie’s Italian is also a major drawcard, with the rustic fare by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver. Onboard Ovation of the Seas the Main Dining Room is replaced by four different restaurants, each serving the same full-service, complimentary menu and offering Royal Caribbean’s signature My Time Dining: The Grand, Silk, Chic and American Icon Grill. Michael’s Genuine Pub feels just like a traditional English pub and Kung Fu Panda Noodle Shop is a new addition. The most stand-out bar on the ship is the Bionic Bar, where you can experience having your martini (or any cocktail on the menu) shaken by one of two robotic mixologists. Ovation of the Seas has 18 restaurants and almost as many bars onboard.
Don’t expect to get bored on your Ovation of the Seas cruise. There is an overwhelming array of things to do including learning to surf with the FlowRider surf simulator, experiencing what it’s like to skydive with Ripcord by iFLY, stepping aboard the North Star for unmatched ocean views, as well as rock climbing, pool parties, movie nights, dance classes, culinary classes, jewellery making workshops and more. Ovation of the Seas also has the largest indoor active space at sea, called SeaPlex RCI, and this will keep you on your toes with 30 bumper cars, a roller skating rink, circus school and full-sized basketball court.
Kids and families
Children of all ages will have plenty of exciting stories to tell friends at home after an adventure aboard Ovation of the Seas. Adventure Ocean is the centre of the action, being the award-winning youth program for kids aged six months to 11 years. Ovation of the Seas continues the super-popular DreamWorks Experience, showcasing characters from Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda and giving kids the chance to have some unforgettable meet-and-greet experiences. Tweens and teens are also catered for, with two different areas away from the kids’ club that offer a more relaxed setting in which they can just hang out with friends or take part in the organised activities if they choose. As well as specific activities and play areas for kids, Royal Caribbean has its trademark array of family-friendly things to do, such as blockbuster movie nights by the pool and fun in SeaPlex RCI, as well as plenty of family dining options and family-friendly accommodation configurations.
Fitness and wellbeing
There’s no shortage of ways to rejuvenate your mind, body and spirit aboard Ovation of the Seas, with the holistic spa services and state-of-the-art facilities at the Vitality Spa & Fitness Centre. By way of extra incentive to work out, the gym – at the front of the ship, up on Deck 16 – offers some of the best views of any indoor area, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows port, forward and starboard. Within the gym you’ll find the very latest exercise equipment, as well as the option to book into any number of group classes such as yoga and Pilates. If you’d prefer to exercise outdoors, there’s a jogging and walking track located on Deck 15. When you’ve had your workout and feel like a little pampering, make your way down to the Vitality Spa where you can treat yourself to a choice of massages, wraps, facials, and hair and nail treatments, as well as acupuncture – even tooth whitening. Another way to create a little me-time is to escape to the adults-only Solarium pool, a glass-canopied retreat on Deck 14.
Shows and nightlife
If you’re looking for Las Vegas-calibre entertainment every night, you won’t be disappointed aboard Ovation of the Seas. There’s always something going on, from outstanding original musical productions with world-class vocalists and dancers to live jazz, rock or acoustic performances. Dance into the wee hours at South Beach-style nightclub Club 20, take part in one of the ship’s hilarious game shows, or sit back and enjoy the mesmerising light show set to music at Two70. If you feel like playing a game or two of chance, head down to Casino Royale on Deck Three and try your luck at any one of the tables or slot machines. Note: Theatre performances are seasonal so check with your Flight Centre Cruise Expert about which stellar shows are currently showing on Ovation of the Seas cruises.
An immediate standout on Ovation of the Seas is the higher-than-average number of staterooms with balconies – on this ship it’s a generous 1,570 out of 2,090. Interior rooms without a view have been designed with virtual balconies, that is, digital floor-to-ceiling ocean views fed by cameras mounted outside. Rooms can be grouped into four main classes: Interior, Balcony, Ocean View and Royal Suite Class, with this final class setting a new benchmark for luxury accommodation aboard such a large ship. Within these four groups are a variety of room styles, designed to accommodate families, solo travellers, couples and groups. In general, all rooms on Ovation of the Seas are larger than average and the most impressive of them all is the one and only split-level Royal Loft Suite, coming in at 152sqm.
Services and accessibility
Ovation of the Seas has been designed for the comfort of every passenger, and offers a range of accessible features. This includes gangways wide enough to accommodate most wheelchairs and mobility scooters, with an accessible route to the tendering platform. There are 34 accessible staterooms which have wider automatic-entry doors, roll-in showers and a whole range of other accessible features. All decks have lift access and wheelchair seating is available in all dining and bar venues. Two70 and Boleros each have a lower counter bar, there’s a lift at the main pool and whirlpool, and lower tables in the Casino. Ovation of the Seas also has assistive listening systems in the Royal Theatre and plus shipwide WiFi and Digital Wayfinders to help you navigate your way around the ship.
