Experience a Wagner opera in the Opera House developed under the instruction of the German musical master. The Bayreuth Festival was first held in 1876 with a performance of Das Rheingold and remains one of the most significant opera festivals around the globe.
The festival begins at the end of July and carries on throughout August. The operas, performed in repertory, include The Flying Dutchman, Tannhauser, Lohengrin and Parsifal. To remain true to Wagner's vision, the festival remains under the directorship of the composer's descendants.
