Bali - the mecca for cheap sarongs and barely there Bintang singlets actually hosts a whole lot more than just cheap jewellery and questionable wooden souvenirs.

Wander along streets like Jalan Raya and l. Oberoi. Jl. Petitenget in Seminyak and you will be met with sophisticated stores spilling with everything from the latest bikinis every Instagram model is wearing through to the chicest woven baskets and handcrafted homewares.

Come with an empty suitcase and be prepared to pay for excess baggage as you discover Bali’s best shopping….

Where to find the most on-trend Fashion:

Drifter

Oberoi #50 JL Kayu Aya, Seminyak

For surf and swimwear that isn’t your typical surf brand picked up at the mall. Think trendy boutique labels like Zulu & Zephyr or One Teaspoon.

Wanderlust

78 Oberoi, Seminyak, 63 Basangkasa, Seminyak and 77 Batu Bolong, Canggu

Scroll through Instagram and you will be sure to come across a model wearing one of Wanderlust’s latest styles. Don’t wait until you get home to nab one online though because you can’t find these swimsuits anywhere but the brand’s three Bali brick and mortar stores.

Bali Boat Shed

Jl. Kayu Aya

Located in the heart of Seminyak’s main shopping street, Bali Boat Shed’s colorful exterior and quirky interior has become an iconic shopping spot for locals, stocking a mix of international and local brands.

Auguste The Label

Oberoi Street, Seminyak

The Bali outpost of this Byron Bay local is perfect for picking up a dress you can wear from the beach to the bar, just add some lipstick and you’re good to go.

Magali Pascal

This upmarket brand features plenty of light silk in a collection of elegant maxi dresses, cocktail dresses and cute shoestrip tops perfect for humid Bali nights.

Deus Ex Machina

Jl. Batu Mejan No.8, Canggu

If you come to Bali and don’t leave with a Deus Ex Machina hat or t-shirt, did you even come to Bali? Or maybe you did but weren’t in the know? This is the store/restaurant that all of the creative-Aussie-expat-turned-locals eat, drink and shop at.

The Bali Tailor

Jalan Beraban, no. 67 Seminyak

With over 10 years experience working in Bali’s bespoke tailoring business, specialising in leather work, The Bali Tailor is every expat and tourist in the know’s first stop in Bali. From custom leather boots to personalised moto jackets, the team behind The Bali Tailor sure know how to bring custom creations to life.

Where to head for Interior decor/furnishings:

Toko Emporium

Jalan Kayu Aya No1, Seminyak

From teak wood mid-century chairs with leopard cowhide seats to felt roll-up backgammon boards, Toko Emporium stocks many quirky home furnishing items alongside equally curious women’s accessories. Almost all of the items in store are also locally produced.

Souq

Jalan Raya Basangkasa No.10, Opposite Basangkasa Market Seminyak

The Tailored Store

Jalan Beraban Seminyak

For soft linens, rattan poufs and baskets, leather chairs, hand loomed hammocks and all things textured - head to The Bali Tailor’s sister homewares boutique, The Tailored Store.

Saya Gallery

Jalan Laksmana 12X, Seminyak

Saya Gallery is an eclectic paradise full of ornamental art, furniture, accessories, and funky tassel jewellery complete with natural stones, horn, bone, silver and gold. The store was created by a Dutch art collector who was always searching for antiques and began the gallery as a hobby. Also featured are tribal and ethnic artwork from all around Asia.

Carga

Jl. Petitenget No.886

A boutique gallery, Carga is full of colourful gift ideas and chic homewares. Thanks to its tropical decor the store is a great place to head for some interiors inspiration, which includes a life-size palm tree carved out of wood.

Mercredi

Jl. Raya Taman No.150, Seminyak

If you’re looking to pick up all of your furnishings in one go then Mercredi would be a good place to start with its extensive selection of cushions, table settings, lamps, wall hangings, mirrors and bedding.
