Las Vegas might be full of Elvis impersonators and glittering showgirls, but ‘Sin City’ isn’t all ostentatious bling and tack. As Brandon Posney, VIP host at Hakkasan Group and Vegas local reports – there’s plenty of class, adventure and romance on offer in Las Vegas too.
miX at Mandalay Bay – This restaurant and lounge has a classy, yet relaxed feel. The food is sensational, the cocktails exciting and the view breathtaking.
East Ocean Dim Sum – This is my favourite local Asian restaurant. It serves yum cha every day. The waiters are grumpy but the food always makes up for it!
Hakkasan at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino – With a restaurant, private dining room, Ling Ling Lounge, main nightclub, pavilion and mezzanine, this is the place to be when you just want to go hard all night.
Mon Ami Gabi – The front balcony of this French restaurant has an incredible view of the Fountains of Bellagio, but this makes it very hard to get a reservation.
Gondola rides at The Venetian – Many of the world’s famous cities have been recreated here. Feeling romantic? Go on a Venice-inspired gondola ride at The Venetian or head to the top of Paris’ Eiffel Tower.
Encore Beach Club – We’ve been here a few times for their ‘night-swimming’ evenings. It’s set up like a huge European club with private cabanas surrounding a massive pool.
Fly to the Grand Canyon – It’s a little expensive, but definitely worth every cent. This is the best way to see the Canyon in all its glory. Make a day of it by opting for a flight and meal package.
Lake Mead – This is the biggest man-made lake in the US and there are a lot of different ways to explore it. My favourite is to rent a pontoon boat for a few hours and cruise around. It’s a really relaxing way to spend a day.
Insider info #1 – At every casino, except Wynn and Encore, if you put $20 in any of the video poker machines at the bars, you can drink for free.
Insider info #2 – Many people don’t know that the bar out the front of Mon Ami Gabi has just as good a view as the restaurant itself. And you can just walk in and sit right down.
