For a more raw experience, visit the Auckland War Memorial Museum which focuses on the history of New Zealand and those fallen in battle in the military. There are often exclusive events that go on at the museum that is worth checking out on your visit.
There are also a number of wine regions you can take a trip to surrounding Auckland including: Waiheke Island, Matakana and Kumeu. Here you will experience great fresh seafood and beautifully aged wine in the tranquil countryside whilst enjoying the great views.
For an adventure that the whole family can enjoy, take a trip to Rainbow's End. This theme park is 9.3 hectares of pure entertainment located in Manukau, which is about a 30 minute drive from the CBD, dependent on the traffic.
